As promised in the throne speech, the Clark government is moving to crack down on metal theft.
Solicitor-General Shirley Bond says legislation being introduced today will require metal dealers to record the personal information of each person who sells high-value metals like copper.
Bond says this won’t replace good bylaws or security measures; it will build on them.
