North Shore Search and Rescue says it will be able to do long-line rescues after the technique was suspended province-wide.
Search leader Tim Jones says North Shore Conservative MP Andrew Saxton led the charge for talks with the manufacturer over certification issues.
Those issues had led to the suspension of search and rescue groups to do long line rescues, but Jones says they will soon be back in business.
“He went to the Prime Minister’s office and the Minister of Transport and today there was high level discussions with the manufacturer and it looks we are going to be back doing operations shortly.”
Jones isn’t sure when long line rescues, province wide, will be green-lit but he expects it will happen very quickly.
Jones had warned the suspension would risk lives.
