Man wounded in pre-dawn BC shooting

SURREY, B.C. – One man is in hospital and another is under arrest after the latest shooting in Metro Vancouver.

RCMP Cpl. Drew Grainger says the 28-year-old victim was shot several times in the upper body as he stepped out of a rental car in a residential area of Surrey about 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The attacker fled in the rental vehicle, and a car found on fire later in the neighbouring community of Delta is believed to be the same vehicle.

Two men were spotted running from the burning car and police managed to catch one of them but the other got away.

The RCMP say they believe the attack was a targeted shooting because the victim is well known to police through his involvement in the drug trade.

His name has not been released.

Two men died and another was critically wounded in separate gang-related shootings in Metro Vancouver last month.
