Moe Sihota re-elected as B.C. NDP president

VANCOUVER – B.C. New Democrat’s have re-elected Moe Sihota as the party’s president during their annual convention in Vancouver.

The former MLA was acclaimed to the job.

While party renewal has been a focus for the NDP this year, Sihota says he doesn’t think having an old face in the job will hinder progress.

Sihota says the right people need to be in the right places and with Adrian Dix as leader and a young caucus behind him, the party is working to support them behind the scenes.

Sihota says a party president needs experience in how to build an election campaign, how to run elections and how to raise money for those campaigns.

There had been speculation this year that B.C. would have a fall election, but Premier Christy Clark said there was no appetite for an election and voters would go to the polls as planned in May 2013.
