NDP brushes off suggestion B.C.’s credit rating could change if elected

B.C.’s finance critic says he’s confident the province’s credit rating would stay strong with an NDP government, despite a report today that it could change.

Bruce Ralston says there is nothing unusual with the Diamond Bond Rating Service suggesting if the province’s leadership changes, so too could B.C.’s AA rating.

“What I took from the announcement was this was simply business as usual. If there is a change in government, they’ll have a look at what the new government has to offer. But I am very confident they’ll be quite reassured by what we have to say.”

He also brushed off comments from his Liberal counterpart about the NDP’s yet-to-be released platform, saying he’s sure the ratings agency will be satisfied with his party’s approach.
