The NDP finance critic is wondering why new HST transition rules for BC’s homebuilding industry had to be unveiled at a hotel.
Bruce Ralston says that’s a clear waste of taxpayers’ money.
“This is a government that claims there’s no money for anything and they’re shutting down spending, yet they’re holding this news conference in a swanky downtown hotel in Victoria rather in the legislative buildings which the lights are on and the building’s open and the rent is paid. Why would they be incurring extra expenses to make an announcement, when there’s public buildings available?”
Ralston adds it’s taking too long to get rid of the HST. Finance Minister Kevin Falcon is set to release the homebuilding transition details during the noon hour.
