Perhaps now some closure?

The BC Human Rights Tribunal has decided the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association is not guilty of systemic discrimination against homeless people, aboriginal people, and drug users.

Pivot Legal Society and the Vancouver Area of Drug Users launched that complaint nearly four years ago against the DVBIA’s Downtown Ambassadors. The hearing ran for more than twenty days in 2010.

In a release, DVBIA Executive Director, Charles Gauthier says, “The ruling reaffirms the confidence we’ve always had in our program and our Downtown Ambassadors.”

The Association says its Ambassadors have a numbers of roles that include acting as “eyes and ears on the streets,” providing referalls and assistance to people living on the streets, and working with member businesses to protect their property.
