PM sheltered on northern pipeline proposal

Prime Minister Stephen Harper weighed in on the controversial Northern Gateway Pipeline while visiting North Vancouver Thursday.

In town to talk shipbuilding contracts, Harper said Ottawa has only had preliminary discussions with the Province and he won’t support or deny it, “What this Government’s responsibility is, is to ensure that processes are thorough and that we reach a decision in a reasonable amount of time.”

Harper did say his Government wants to be able to trade with Asia’s growing markets, and that means having more diverse energy exports.

Public discussions have been going on in Kitimat over Enbridge’s plans to build the proposed multi-billion-dollar pipeline.
