Premier Diagnostic forming joint venture

VANCOUVER – Premier Diagnostic Health Services Inc. (CNSX:PDH) says it’s working on creating a joint venture between itself, Chang’an Industry Group and employees of Jiangling Hospital in southwestern China.

The alliance would expand and manage a hospital imaging centre, with construction to begin June 2012.

Vancouver-based Premier, which would own 50 to 55 per cent of the joint venture under a letter of intent announced Friday, primarily builds and manages medical diagnostic centres in Canada and China.

The proposed joint venture would be in Chongqing, an important regional city in southwestern China.

The company said Friday that Chang’an plans to transfer its current ownership of hospital land and buildings to the new joint venture partnership.

The imaging centre would take up to three years to complete at a cost of 200 million yuan, equivalent to C$ 32 million at current exchange rates.

Chang’an would own 35 to 42 per cent of the joint venture and hospital management and staff would own eight to 10 per cent.

Premier’s centre in Burnaby, B.C., has been offering PET scans since July 2010 and its MRI facility in Beijing has been operating since October 2010.
