He’s been an outspoken critic for years — now the RCMP appears to be cutting all ties with police psychologist Mike Webster.
Dr. Webster says the national police force has advised his patients the RCMP will no longer cover any bills associated to his services.
Their argument? That Webster’s public views of the force have weakened his ability to provide good treatment.
“This amazes me that the RCMP would see one little old psychologist like myself as such a threat… that they would have to resort to this… I guess I have more power than I really previously thought I had.”
Webster says he’s currently treating as many as 30 members of the force.
His criticism of the force dates back to the tasering death of Robert Dziekanski in 2007.
The RCMP has yet to respond for comment, however letters obtained suggest the force is also filing a complaint with the college of psychologists.
