Skateboarder who crashed into car could face charges

A crash between a car and a skateboarder last night in North Vancouver may result in charges, but not against the driver.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Glenn Magark says the skateboarder blew through a stop sign shortly before 11 p.m. at East 2nd Street and St. Andrews Avenue.

“Please don’t skateboard on the streets after dark, without protective gear on, and abide by the rules.”

Magark says potential charges could be under the Motor Vehicle Act or under bylaws.

He estimates the skateboarder—in his mid-20s—was going about 50 km/ hour.

The boarder was sent to hospital, conscious though his exact condition is unknown.
