Strange bear behaviour has puzzled Minister

Two strange bear attack stories in the news over the last week has BC’s Environment Minister shaking his head, “Every year we seem to have incidents that are somewhat bizarre; although this past week has been a little stranger than normal.”

Terry Lake says despite the bad press, bears aren’t an animal people should view as being threatening to humans, “Bears, for the most part, are not a danger to people but if they lose their fear of people that is where we can run into problems.”

He says reducing attractants like garbage, food scraps, and bird seed will cut down on bear human interactions.

Two bears have put down over the last week, one for attacking a man in a hot tub, the other for eating a part of a body.
