The fight against the planned scrapping of Translink’s Taxi-saver program is ramping up.
The program lets users with mobility issues use a taxi for half the price.
Seniors can also use the service, should HandyDART not be available.
Supporters at City Hall argue Taxi-saver allows for last minute trips, unlike on HandyDART.
Translink first announced the 1.1 million dollar program’s cancellation in May, but a decision has been put on hold as public meetings such as this one continue over the summer months.
Translink has also come under heavy fire for a lack of consultation before making that decision.
The authority argues the money from Taxi-saver will go right back into the HandyDART system.
