Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts says the section of the RCMP Act dealing with officer discipline needs an immediate update.
A disgraced RCMP Sgt. with a long history of sexual misconduct, is being transferred from Edmonton to the Lower Mainland.
Watts says without changes to the Act, bad cops will keep working.
She says a review is underway.
“I understand that there is a review ongoing. However, in the area of discipline, I would suggest that should be brought up to date immediately. Because that type of behaviour has no place in the workforce.
Premier Christy Clark is also speaking out against the officer being sent to BC.
