Take our grape juice home with you

Out-of-Province wine lovers who come to sample the fruit of BC’s vines may soon be able to take bottles home.

Okanagan-Coquihalla MP Dan Albas tabled a private members bill that would get rid of the red tape surrounding inter-provincial wine shipments. The Tory bill was almost delayed last week because of a filibuster from the NDP.

But now, the bill has passed unanimously in Ottawa, “Obviously, we want to make sure when tourists are coming to the Okanagan Valley or Fraser Valley or on the Island, they can take some of our fine BC wine home with them.”

The bill is meant for personal consumption.

The Senate now gets to take a look at the bill.

Albas hopes it passes before the Senate breaks at the end of the month.
