The NDP accuse the provincial government of self promotion on the taxpayers dime.

News of the Provincial Government dropping over $ 800,000 to promote their jobs plan has the opposition NDP upset.

Finance Critic Bruce Ralston says the advertising campaign is nothing more than shameless self-promotion on the taxpayers dime

Ralston says “The so called plan that they have depends on foreign investment yet all the ads are being screened locally and they have got some response forty dollars a click is I think what there calculate out if you calculate the number of people that have clicked on the website it is really all about Christy Clark and the BC Liberals promoting themselves at the taxpayers expense.”

Ralston says the BC Liberals claim the campaign has attracted over 21,000 hits to their jobs website.

When asked if it only makes sense for the government to try and promote their plans in some capacity Ralston said “If there were a plan if it was a genuine jobs plan then perhaps there might be some argument for it but this is clearly self promotion there is no plan and they are spending at this rate nearly a million a month.”

He says the campaign is very reminiscent of how the BC Liberals also tried to sell the HST to the province.
