Transit Police Negotiations

Transit Police aren’t saying if they’ll be looking for a wage hike as they enter talks for a new contract.

The Transit Police contract expired last year and right now union leaders are preparing for negotiations.

Talks are set to begin soon but no firm date has been worked out.

Asked what the union demands are Transit Police spokesperson Brian MacDonald says he can’t talk about the bargaining position.

In the Transit Police Strategic Plan there’s a call for a move towards reducing demands on overtime.

The annual Transit Police budget is 28-million-dollars.

66 of the 167 sworn transit officers earn over 100-thousand-dollars a year.
