Over 1,700 unionized ICBC workers are set to strike Tuesday.
Canadian Office and Professional Employees union local 378 president David Black says this strike will affect ICBC offices, apart from essential services.
“The level of service will be much slower tomorrow unfortunately, so for their own sake people should try and move their business to another day as well.”
Black says if you can avoid coming in, do so.
“What we’re asking people is first of all to respect our picket line and if they have business with ICBC claims offices to do that another day. But also, the level of service will be much slower tomorrow unfortunately.”
Black adds there’s been no progress since talks a month ago, but there are talks scheduled for the end of the month.
The local has been working without a contract for two years, with job security, workload and wages the main issues of contention.
