Vancouver police are half way through punishing members caught viewing porn on the job.

Vancouver’s Police Chief says “about half” the officers under investigation for viewing pornography and other inappropriate images on the job have been disciplined.

Jim Chu says there have been several members who have accepted their discipline and the department’s working through the other half of officers involved.

Chu said “working with the union in terms of resolving the discipline for the other half so half have received their discipline and half have not.”

As for the discipline itself Chu says “well the high end of the discipline ranges from a transfer including a suspension.”

The employees, one civilian and 14 officers including an inspector, were caught surfing websites and sending emails containing inappropriate, offensive or pornographic images.

It was uncovered last summer during an unrelated internal probe.

The public was only told about it last month.
