We don’t know their names or how old they were, but police have confirmed the victims of a fatal crash in east Vancouver overnight were a man and woman.
Constable Lindsey Houghton says their car smashed through a concrete barrier and rolled down a steep embankment onto Highway One north of the Cassiar Tunnel.
“It’s hard to say right now without at this early stage exactly how the vehicle came down the embankment. It would take a significant amount of speed to dislodge those concrete barriers that separate the roadway from the embankment.”
It is not known if alcohol may have been a factor, but autopsies will be done to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigators haven’t been able to identify the victims because neither had any identification on them.
