VPD look for new ways to catch hockey rioters

While the Vancouver Canucks try to stay in this year’s race for hockey’s Holy Grail, local police are examining new ways to track down last year’s rioters.

Posters and images placed online helped identify many of the 85 suspects already facing charges.

The head of the riot investigation team, Insp. Les Yeo, says they’re now considering running a “rioter of the week” feature.

“This is all about the public going to the website and looking at the pictures on that website to help us identify the people that caused that carnage that night and whatever we can do to drive those people to the website, we will do and one of them could be ‘rioter of the week’ with the media.”

Vancouver police have spent more than $ 2 million investigating the riot.
