Woman dies of stab wounds: Police

A?26-year-old man is in custody after his wife was found dead outside a Surrey business Thursday, having succumbed to stab wounds, police said.

Ravinder Bhangu, a 24-year-old Surrey resident, was identified as the victim.

Integrated homicide investigation team spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Pound said the woman was dead when police arrived.

“I can tell you it was multiple stab wounds,” she said. “It was extensive.”

A man was also injured when he tried to protect the victim, police said.

The incident happened at a strip mall in the 8100 block of 128th Avenue just before 11 a.m. Reports indicate the business could have been the Sach Di Awaaz newspaper, a bilingual Punjabi and English publication, but police wouldn’t confirm it.

Police did not release the suspect’s name but said the pair had been married since 2009.

The investigation is ongoing.
