Aaron Eckhart Is The New “Frankenstein”

Aaron Eckhart is set to play Adam Frankenstein in Stuart Beattie’s comic-to-feature adaptation “I, Frankenstein” for Lakeshore Entertainment, Hopscotch Features and Lionsgate.

In the graphic novel, Frankenstein’s creature (now called Adam) has survived to present day due to a genetic quirk in his creation. Making his way to a dark, gothic metropolis, he finds himself caught in a centuries old war between two immortal clans. The comic’s author, Kevin Grevioux, co-created the “Underworld” franchise.

“G.I. Joe” and “Collateral” scribe Stuart Beattie, who had hit success with last year’s Aussie Red Dawn-esque action thriller “Tomorrow, When the War Began”, penned the script and will direct.

Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Andrew Mason and Richard Wright are producing. Shooting kicks off in Australia in January while a February 22nd 2013 U.S. release through Lionsgate has already been set.
