“Avengers” Sequel Plans Discussed

Marvel Studios made a big splash with “The Avengers” over the weekend at the New York Comic Con. Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders showed up with producer Kevin Feige to present new footage and answer questions reports Heat Vision.

The big scene shown was the first meeting between Bruce Banner (Ruffalo) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) where she essentially recruits him to be a part of the team and had armed men hidden and on standby in case his rage transformed him into The Hulk. There was also a scene with Tony Stark and Loki.

The sub-plots and story contrivances to bring about “The Avengers” in Marvel’s previous few films has often been cited in reviews as the Achilles heel of the likes of “Iron Man 2,” “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger”. With this coming out, there’s been thought that Marvel might lay off on the cross-overs for a little while.

That doesn’t seem to be the case however with Feige saying that the upcoming “Iron Man 3” will “be the first of what we sort of refer to as phase two of this…saga that will culminate, God willing, in Avengers 2.”

Joss Whedon is working on the movie in the edit room and it’s presently too early to tell what the runtime will be. The teaser trailer for the project debuted on Apple back on Tuesday and was reportedly downloaded more than 10 million times within 24 hours.
