Casting News: Ratray, Nicholson, Vogel

Nebraska
Devin Ratray has signed on to play the villain in Alexander Payne’s $ 13 million black-and-white feature “Nebraska” at Paramount Pictures. Ratray will play one-half of a set of villainous twins who are the sons of Stacy Keach’s character.

The story centers on an aging, booze-addled father (Bruce Dern) who makes the trip from Montana to Nebraska with his estranged son (Will Forte) in order to claim a million-dollar sweepstakes prize. Shooting kicks off later this month. [Source: THR]

August: Osage County
Julianne Nicholson (“Boardwalk Empire”) will play Ivy Weston, one of the sisters to Julia Robert’s Barbara, in the adaptation of Tracy Letts’ Oklahoma family clan play “August: Osage County”.

Ivy is the middle daughter to Violet, played by Meryl Streep, and is having a secret affair. John Wells helms the project. [Source: Deadline]

Bates Motel
Mike Vogel and Nestor Carbonell have joined the cast of A&E’s upcoming “Psycho”-prequel series “Bates Motel” in recurring roles.

The series examines the twisted relationship between serial-killer-to-be Norman (Freddie Highmore) and his mother Norma (Vera Varmiga). Carbonell will play a sinister sheriff, Vogel his attractive but sociopathic deputy. [Source: Deadline]
