Crowe Up For “The Dark Tower” Role?

Javier Bardem is out while Russell Crowe is being rumoured as the potential replacement to play Roland Deschain in the adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” fantasy series reports Deadline.

The ambitious project, which at one point included a film trilogy and a two season TV series, famously fell apart back in 2010 at Universal over financial issues. Warner Bros. Pictures picked up the project back in March this year and were getting Akiva Goldsman to do a polish on the script for the first feature with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer supervising.

Goldsman’s script is said to be due shortly, once it’s in the studio will evaluate and decide where to move forward from there. Bardem was attached back in 2010 and remained so until recently.
