Dreamworks Feels A “Need For Speed”

Various studios were interested but it looks like DreamWorks has taken center stage in the race to get a film version of the best-selling video game series “Need for Speed” to the big screen reports Heat Vision.

DreamWorks is in negotiations to pick up the Electronic Arts video game property which John and George Gatins have developed as a feature. The company recently received a new round of funding which has once again made it hungry for acquisitions after several months stuck in limbo.

What would essentially be a rival to the “Fast and Furious” franchise, ‘Need’ has the advantage of in-built franchise name recognition. The most recent incarnations of the series feature a cross-country race.
