“Game of Thrones” Season Finale Extended

Following in the wake of Sunday night’s epic ‘Blackwater’ episode, HBO has confirmed that this coming Sunday’s finale of the second season of “Game of Thrones” will clock in at 64 minutes as opposed to the usual 54 minutes.

The ten minutes extra will allow various story lines more time to wrap up ahead of the third season next April. Several key subplots from the second book that haven’t shown up on screen yet – the Sack of Winterfell, Daenerys’ visit to the House of the Undying, and the events in King’s Landing after the Battle of Blackwater Bay – should be covered in this one episode.

HBO advises that “the reason is that Game of Thrones episode 20 simply cannot be contained by a mere 54 minutes! Most DVRs will pick this up and record with the extra time but for your own sanity please do not forget to either watch live or record ten extra minutes on Sunday night”.

The promo for the final episode is below, warning – it contains spoilers for the ending of the previous episode.
