Warner Bros. Pictures has officially pushed back the release of its noir detective action drama “Gangster Squad” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Originally slated for September 7th, the Ruben Fleischer-directed film will now hit four months later – on January 11th.
The move gives the studio time to accommodate reshooting of a climactic scene in the film involving a gun fight that commences at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater before spilling out onto Hollywood Boulevard.
In the wake of the cinema massacre in Colorado, said sequence has become problematic and the studio has been holding discussions about how to revise the film. As the scene is pivotal it can’t be edited around, instead it is being reconceived.
