HBO Scores “Dark Tower” TV Elements

Producer Brian Grazer tells MTV News that not only are he and Ron Howard still planning the television portion of their adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower”, but they already have a network to run it.

“We’re going to do with HBO. We’ll do the TV with HBO, and we’ll do the movie with… to be determined. We’ll do it right” he says. He also “remains confident” that the previously attached Javier Bardem will stay on to play gunslinger Roland Deschain.

Grazer spoke recently about the major budget cuts on the project and insists it hasn’t compromised the project in any way – “We’re going to do that movie. We’ve lost $ 45 million out of the budget. When people say no to you enough, then you have to lose money, which we’ve done without harming the scope of the film.”
