“Machete” Sequel Gets Underway

Robert Rodriguez and producer Alexander Rodnyansky are teaming for “Machete Kills”, a sequel to 2009 action flick “Machete” reports Deadline.

The second in a planned trilogy, the new film finds Machete (Danny Trejo) recruited by the U.S. Government to battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who have hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space.

Kyle Ward penned the script and many of the original surviving cast members are expected to return, while Alexander Rodnyansky will produce. Shooting is tentatively scheduled to begin in April.
