“Paddington Bear” Becomes A Movie

“Harry Potter” series producer David Heyman and Studiocanal are teaming for a combination computer animated and live-action adaptation of classic children’s book character Paddington Bear says Deadline.

Paul King (“Bunny And The Bull”) has come onboard to direct the film which follows the curious but polite young bear who travels from darkest Peru to London’s Paddington station where he’s taken in by an English family. Michael Bond’s first book in the series was published in 1958.

The film though will be set in contemporary times. Originally set up at Warners in 2007, it looks as if the studio has let the project lapse as Studiocanal is intending to finance, distribute and sell the film.
