“Rampage” Arcade Game Becomes A Film

New Line Cinema is developing a film adaptation of the classic 1980’s arcade video game “Rampage” reports Heat Vision.

Midway Games produced the game which follows three humans who mutate into a giant lizard, werewolf and ape respectively. The players goal was to inficlit enough damage on the buildings on the screen to cause them to collapse.

Warners acquired Midway in a $ 33 million deal in 2009. The film will use the title and some gaming visuals to create a “smartly-budgeted monster movie in the vein of ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Independence Day”.

John Rickard will produce and is meeting with writers to develop a story.
