Last month came word that “Drive” director Nicolas Winding Refn was in talks to direct the Denzel Washington-led cinematic reboot of 1980s crime drama “The Equalizer.”
Edward Woodward starred in the classic CBS television series about Robert McCall, a former operative of a covert intelligence organisation who seeks redemption for his dark past via offering his services to those being persecuted and in need of help.
Today, Collider reports that while Sony was close to closing a deal with Refn, the deal fell apart at the last minute due to unknown reasons.
Sony is still keen on the project and is aiming to lock down a new director to start filming in May with Washington still attached to star.
