David Fincher is circling the director’s chair while his “Curious Case of Benjamin Button” scribe Eric Roth is in early discussions to write a new draft for the “Cleopatra” biopic at Sony Pictures says Variety.
Based on Stacy Schiff’s bestselling book “Cleopatra: A Life”, Angelina Jolie remains attached to star as the Egyptian queen in this story which depicts her as a master strategist in politics and war.
Brian Helgeland adapted an initial draft. While there is no deal in place yet for Roth, it’s expected he’ll begin writing work on it later this year. Scott Rudin will produce.
James Cameron was previously interested in directing the project in 3D, with Fincher now interested it’s unclear if that’s still the case.
