Some Big 2012 Trailers Hitting Shortly

The first trailers for Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus”, the action sequel “G.I. Joe: The Retaliation”, the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy “The Dictator” and the Jeremy Renner-led “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters” should be hitting either cinema screens or online imminently.

While the MPAA doesn’t make ratings classifications for trailers available freely through their website, various groups in other countries and territories outside the United States do. One such group is the Culture and Community Services department in the Canadian province of Alberta who handily include an official page for the dozen or so trailers for major theatrical releases it classifies every week.

Over the past 2-3 weeks they’ve added around thirty new trailers to the list. Since their inclusion more than half of them have come online including the first trailer for “The Cabin in the Woods”; the second trailers for “John Carter”, “Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close,” “The Grey,” “The Iron Lady” and “The Lorax”; and in just the last day or so the first trailers for “The Five-Year Engagement” and “The Three Stooges”.

What’s interesting are the ones that haven’t been released yet and are expected to hit sooner rather than later (as in the next week or two). Along with those four 2012 titles mentioned above we can also expect to see a first trailer for animated sequels “Ice Age 4” and “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted”, the ensemble pregnancy-themed comedy “What To Expect When You Are Expecting”, and a second trailer for “Battleship”.

In other trailer news, RyanSeacrest.com reports that the first trailer for the film adaptation of Broadway musical “Rock of Ages” will be attached to copies of “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”.
