The DGA & SAG Award Winners

It has been a massive weekend on the awards circuit with the Director’s Guild and Screen Actor’s Guild announcing their annual winners.

The Director’s Guild awarded its top prize to Michel Hazanavicius for his work directing the silent film “The Artist”, further cementing his place to not only win a Best Directing Oscar but for the film to take Best Picture as well.

The guild also honoured James Marsh for his work helming the documentary “Project Nim”. In the TV section Patty Jenkins (“The Killing”), Robert B. Weide (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Jon Cassar (“The Kennedys”) scored awards as well.

At the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards it was “The Help” which dominated the film awards taking Best Actress (Viola Davis), Best Supporting Actress (Octavia Spencer) and Best Ensemble Cast.

“The Artist” star Jean Dujardin taking the Best Actor nod, beating out favourites George Clooney and Brad Pitt for the honor, while “Beginners” star Christopher Plummer took Best Supporting Actor.

TV honours went to the ensemble casts of “Boardwalk Empire” and “Modern Family” along with individual honours to Kate Winslet (“Mildred Pierce”), Paul Giamatti (“Too Big To Fail”), Steve Buscemi (“Boardwalk Empire”), Jessica Lange (“American Horror Story”), Alec Baldwin (“30 Rock”) and Betty White (“Hot in Cleveland”). Stunt honours went to “Game of Thrones” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II”.
