Tim Burton Next Directing “Big Eyes”

Tim Burton has set “Big Eyes” as his next directorial effort.

Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams will star in the project about Margaret and Walter Keane, the artists whose paintings of large eyed children became one of the first mass marketed art sensations in the 50s and 60s.

Walter was the marketing genius and a full fledged celebrity. His shy wife, however, was the actual artist and when they split she tried to get what was due to her.

They ended up in court where a judge provided them with two easels and ordered them to prove it. His reputation crashed overnight as he begged off the order saying his arm hurt, whereas she created one of the trademark big-eyed works.

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (“Ed Wood,” “The People Vs. Larry Flynt”) penned the script and will produce with Burton and Lynette Howell. The Weinstein Company is closing a deal to fund and distribute the film which will shoot this summer.
