“True Blood” Fifth Season Details

SPOILERS AHEAD.

The fourth season of “True Blood” ended on a bang on Sunday with three recurring characters and one regular dying in the space of a few minutes, while Russell Edgington seems to have escaped his concrete prison.

Today co-executive producer Raelle Tucker spoke with EW about plans for the upcoming fifth season which goes to air next summer.

First up “There will be a very significant, strong, mysterious woman at the center of one of our main stories next year. That will be a very familiar and compelling character. It may be someone you’ve heard of before.”

Tucker adds the season will explore “more fairies, new fairies, fairies in a way you haven’t really seen fairies. We will all, as well as Sookie, come to understand fairies more than in previous seasons.”

The return of Fellowship of the Sun leader, now vampire, Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) is not for the reason you expect. Also Scott Foley’s Patrick character, who was introduced in the finale, will bring trouble to Terry (Todd Lowe) and Arlene (Carrie Preston) which relates to Terry’s past.

Sookie’s independent streak is expected to continue to play into the fifth season, as is the consequences of Eric and Bill’s assassination of Nan. As for Russell? “Russell is not dead. It’s safe to assume the king of Mississippi is not gone for good.”
