11 year old boy crushed by fallen trees

A tragic story out of Grand Forks.

An 11 year old boy from Christina Lake was killed Friday after being crushed by trees that fell during a storm.

RCMP say the boy was attending the Pines Bible Camp in Grand Forks.

A storm moved through the area shortly before 5 pm, with winds that knocked down power lines and trees.

Mounties say a number of trees at the camp were blown over–two fell onto a hut and through the roof–crushing the boy, who was inside.

Several of the other youth and children suffered minor injuries.

The BC Coroners Service is investigating with the assistance of Boundary/Grand Forks RCMP.

The boy’s name is not being released as next of kin have not yet been notified.
