2 drivers hospitalized, one in jail

After a chase through several parts of Metro Vancouver that left two people injured, a 40 year old Surrey man is now in police custody.

Staff Sgt. Dave Conrod with Richmond RCMP says Mounties located the suspect outside the stolen vehicle he was driving, after Vancouver Police notified RCMP the man was heading into their area.

After police tried to arrest him, he got back into the vehicle, and allegedly hit two police vehicles, seriously injuring an officer.

The man was followed into New Westminster where he allegedly hit a civilian car, causing the female driver to suffer minor injuries, “The suspect vehicle then entered a New Westminster car dealership. The suspect appeared to attempt to steal another vehicle from the dealership, but then was apprehended by the New Westminster Police officers without further incident.”

The Mountie’s injuries are not life-threatening but he is in hospital.

The injured civilian was taken to hospital as a precaution.
