30 year old man falls to his death near Capilano Suspension Bridge

A 30 year old man is dead after falling more than 200 feet near the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver.

It happened around 5:30 Saturday evening.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Glenn Magark says the man was on the exit part of the Cliffwalk Bridge.

He says police have looked at video of the man.

“It’s quite apparent that he’s looking over the edge as if he you know, may have dropped something, and he’s trying to see if he can see it,  at one point he climbs up and over the railing that is on the walkway portion and on the other side of the railing there’s an area where you could literally stand, and at some point he lost his footing and fell to his death.”

Magark says the man was originally from St. Catharines, Ontario–it’s not clear whether he was in the Lower Mainland as a visitor or lived here.

His identity is not yet being released.

He was at the site with two cousins.
