Puppy dies in Burnaby fire

No injuries to people, but a puppy has died after an overnight fire in Burnaby.

The flames broke out in a garage attached to a home near 13th Avenue and 4th Street.

Acting Assistant Fire Chief Scott Wren describes what they found upon arrival at 3:00 a.m.

“It was a single family residence.  Fire was coming out of the side of the building.  It was a building that was under construction.  The fire was mainly in the new garage area at the back.”

Firefighters managed to keep the flames from spreading to the main part of the house.

The dog died of smoke inhalation.
