Alta. family named in deadly B.C. crash

VANCOUVER – Mounties have released the names of an Edmonton family killed in a head-on crash in the B.C. Interior.

Police say 47-year-old Benham Shokri, his 37-year-old wife Shirin Hamedi Khorasani and their children, six-year-old Daniel and three year old Delina died in the accident.

The family was heading south to California on Highway 5, north of Barriere, B.C., Wednesday night when the crash occurred.

Police say their SUV lost control in icy road conditions, crossed the centre line and slammed into an on-coming tractor trailer.

The truck driver received just minor injuries.
