B.C.’s deputy attorney-general has announced he’s resigning.
In an email, David Loukidelis says he’s leaving June 15 to spend more time with his partner and return to private practice after 12 years as a civil servant.
Back in October 2010, Loukidelis and deputy finance minister Graham Whitmarsh decided to cover $ 6 million in legal costs for David Basi and Bobby Virk in the B.C. rail case.
NDP justice critic Leonard Krog says we should take Loukidelis for his word, but…
“That is part of the legacy, him and Mr. Whitmarsh. Not a popular decision and not a decision that sat well with the vast majority of British Columbians.”
Loukidelis will be replaced by assistant deputy attorney general Richard Fyfe.
