B.C. Angels selected as the name of Abbotsford’s Lingerie Football League team

Angels wearing bras and garter belts no longer only appear on fashion shows and television.

The Canadian incarnation of the Lingerie Football League released Tuesday the name and logo of the Abbotsford-based B.C. Angels, a name chosen by fans in an online vote.

According to LFL Chairman Mitchell Mortaza, open tryouts for the team will be announced as early as Friday. The league is looking for athleticism, a healthy, marketable image and, above all, confidence.

The B.C. Angels will be competing along with five other teams in the opening season of LFL Canada beginning Aug. 25 at Abbotsford Sports and Entertainment Centre where Mortaza estimates 4,500 to 6,000 people in attendance.
