Brent Parent sentenced

A man convicted in a case of road rage is going to prison.

43-year old Brent Parent will spend 5.5 years in prison for his role in the death of 21-year old Silas O’Brien.

The judge called it a balance between the 8-year prison sentence the crown wanted and the 4-year prison term the defence felt was appropriate.

Parent has also received a 12-year driving ban.

He was convicted of criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving, and failing to remain at the scene.

In making the sentence, the judge said the entire blame for O’brien’s death rests with Parent.
