Charges have been laid in Vancouver’s 11th homicide of the year.
Shane Frederick James Yukich, 22, has been charged with one count of murder and made his first court appearance in Vancouver Monday morning.
Yukich was arrested at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday when police received information on his whereabouts following the stabbing of Joshua Jonathan Tanasiuk, 24, at 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
Tanasiuk was allegedly stabbed by another passenger inside a vehicle in the 1300 block of Victoria Drive.
The driver, fearing for his safety, stopped the vehicle and ran away. Tanasiuk was found alone in critical condition in the vehicle by alert citizens.
He succumbed to his injuries around 1 p.m. that same day.
