Charges stayed, but teacher remains out of classroom

Sexual assault charges laid against a Delta teacher may have been stayed.

But that doesn’t mean Robin Wait will be back in the classroom anytime soon.

Crown stayed two counts each of sexual interference and sexual assault against Wait, just as the 43-year-old was supposed to go to trial, citing a lack of evidence.

But despite the fact he hasn’t been convicted of any crime, Wait isn’t teaching again.

Delta School District spokesperson Deneka Michaud says they are waiting for an internal investigation to be complete.

“With any sort of situation like this, the investigation has to be very thorough, because student safety is our top priority.”

Michaud wouldn’t reveal Wait’s current pay status, but when he was charged, he was suspended with pay.
