Construction has officially started on a 73-bed home for the families of BC and Yukon children needing medical care in Vancouver.
The new Ronald McDonald House will serve 21-hundred families every year.
The current location can only help 400 families each year.
The new home is slated to open by Christmas of next year.
Part of the funding –13.4-million dollars– is coming from the provincial government.
The total cost is 29-million dollars with the rest of the money coming from corporate and private donations.
